Gervinho: Rome Need Striker Top

Rome – AS Roma forward line was not too prolific scoring this season. One of the attackers Giallorossi, Gervinho, admits that his team does need additional top striker.

In 34 Serie A that they went through, Roma has scored 48 goals. The number of goals they are the least among teams occupants top five in the standings. Roma, who now sit in second place, even losing to Inter Milan, who finished eighth and already packed 50 goals.

Adem Ljajic be the player of Rome’s most fertile despite only scoring eight goals. No Ljajic behind Francesco Totti who packed six goals and Miralem Pjanic and Alessandro Florenzi who each make five goals.

It makes neither Roma players including top scorer in Serie A this season. Until now, the title of top scorer while still held by Carlos Tevez with 20 goals, followed by Mauro Icardi and Luca Toni with 18 goals.

Rome actually been trying to fix the front line by bringing Seydou Doumbia and Victor Ibarbo in January. However, Doumbia and Ibarbo has not performed satisfactorily so far.

Therefore, Gervinho assess Roma need some sort of top striker Tevez. He convinced Roma will get it in the transfer market this summer.

“Yes, and if we finish in second position then he will come,” said Gervinho told Sky Sport Italia.

Gervinho himself only contributed two goals in 23 Serie A matches this season.
