LONDON – Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer‘s move to Leicester. However, it is not known about the full status Schwarzer in Leicester.
Schwarzer brought London Blue from Fulham for free at the start of last season. However, Schwarzer failed to penetrate the first team because of competition from Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech.
Meanwhile, Leicester is looking for a new goalkeeper to replace Kasper Schmeichel, who missed because of a metatarsal injury. Their choice fell to Schwarzer.
“I want to publicly thank Mark Schwarzer because he has left us and he is a fantastic guy for us,” Mourinho said on the club’s official website.
“As a goalie, when we needed him, he was there for us. As a professional player and he is a wonderful man. On behalf of myself, the staff, and the players, I would like to say that we will miss him and we hope he gets the best in his new life in Leicester. “
To fill the position of a third goalkeeper, Mourinho said it would repatriate Jamal Blackman from Middlesbrough. Jamal is currently on loan for a season along with Middlesbrough.
“For us, he (Jamal) is a young player and goalkeeper good English. He can work together Courtois and Cech. So, this will be a great good for him to add to the experience,” said Mourinho.
